The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ
We believe there is only one Baptism, (EPHESIANS 4:5)  “ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM.”

We believe that  there is only one Biblical mode of baptism, and that is by complete immersion under the water, (JOHN 3:23)
"AND JOHN ALSO WAS BAPTIZING IN AENON NEAR SALIM, BECAUSE THERE WAS MUCH WATER THERE: AND
THEY CAME, AND WERE BAPTIZED.”
(MATTHEW 3:16) “AND JESUS, WHEN HE WAS BAPTIZED, WENT UP
STRAIGHTWAY OUT OF THE WATER:  AND, LO, THE STRAIGHTWAY OUT OF THE WATER:  AND, LO, THE
HEAVENS WERE OPENED UNTO HIM, AND HE SAW THE SPIRIT OF GOD DESCENDING LIKE A DOVE, AND
LIGHTING UPON HIM:”
 (Acts 8:36-39).

We believe that before we can become baptized,  we need to be taught .  We need to learn through the holy written Word of God
what a total loving surrender is to a born-again Christian, by denying ourselves, taking up our cross, and following Jesus.

(MATTHEW 28:19-20)  (19)  “GO YE THEREFORE, AND TEACH ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF
THE FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY GHOST:  (20)  TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS
WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU:  AND, LO, I AM WITH YOU ALWAY, EVEN UNTO THE END OF THE
WORLD, AMEN.”
(ACTS 2:41) “THEN THEY THAT GLADLY RECEIVED HIS WORD WERE BAPTIZED:  AND THE
SAME DAY THERE WERE ADDED UNTO THEM ABOUT THREE THOUSAND SOULS.”
(Acts 8:26-38) (MATTHEW
16:24)
“THEN SAID JESUS UNTO HIS DISCIPLES, IF ANY MAN WILL COME AFTER ME, LET HIM DENY HIMSELF,
AND TAKE UP HIS CROSS, AND FOLLOW ME.

We believe that we must repent of all our past sins, make our commitment to follow Jesus, and forsake our sinful ways and be
Baptized,
(MATTHEW 3:7-8)  (7)  “BUT WHEN HE SAW MANY OF THE PHARISEES AND SADDUCEES COME TO
HIS BAPTISM, HE SAID UNTO THEM, O GENERATION OF VIPERS, WHO HATH WARNED YOU TO FLEE FROM
THE WRATH TO COME?  (8) BRING FORTH THEREFORE FRUITS MEET FOR REPENTANCE,”
(LUKE 3:3)  “AND
HE CAME INTO ALL THE COUNTRY ABOUT JORDAN, PREACHING THE BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE FOR THE
REMISSION OF SINS;
(ACTS 2:38) “THEN PETER SAID UNTO THEM, REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED EVERY ONE OF
YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND YE SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE
HOLY GHOST.”
(Acts 22:16).

We  believe  that  Baptism  is  necessary  for  our salvation,
(MARK 16:16) “HE THAT BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED
SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED.”
(JOHN 3:3,5-7)  (3) “JESUS ANSWERED
AND SAID UNTO HIM, VERILY, VERILY, I SAY UNTO THEE, EXCEPT A MAN BE BORN AGAIN, HE CANNOT SEE
THE KINGDOM  OF  GOD.   (5  )  JESUS  ANSWERED,  VERILY, VERILY, I SAY UNTO THEE, EXCEPT A MAN BE
BORN OF WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, HE CANNOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD.  (6)  THAT WHICH IS
BORN OF THE FLESH IS FLESH; AND THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT.  (7)  MARVEL NOT THAT I
SAID UNTO THEE, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.”
(Acts 10:48; Luke 7:29-30; Acts 22:16; Matt. 18:3).

We believe that Jesus Christ was baptized to set the example for us to follow and to fulfil all righteousness.  We know that Jesus
was perfect and  without sin, and he certainly had no need for Himself to be baptized.  However, we believe that Jesus was
baptized for all those who accepted Him as their Lord and personal Saviour but before they had the opportunity to be baptized,
they died.  Jesus said: “except a man be born again of water (baptism) and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of
God,” (which means you are lost).  He certainly meant just that.  Jesus, who had no need to be baptized, was baptized for all
those deceased souls who were not able to be baptized; His baptism will cover them.
 (MATTHEW 3:13, 15-16)  (13)  “THEN
COMETH JESUS FROM GALILEE TO JORDAN UNTO JOHN, TO BE BAPTIZED OF HIM.  (15) AND JESUS
ANSWERING SAID UNTO HIM, SUFFER (allow) IT TO BE SO NOW:  FOR THUS IT BECOMETH US TO FULFIL ALL
RIGHTEOUSNESS.  THEN HE SUFFERED (allowed) HIM.  (16) AND JESUS, WHEN HE WAS BAPTIZED, WENT UP
STRAIGHTWAY OUT OF THE WATER:  AND, LO, THE HEAVENS WERE OPENED UNTO HIM, AND HE SAW THE
SPIRIT OF GOD DESCENDING LIKE A DOVE, AND LIGHTING UPON HIM:”

We believe that Baptism (or being born again) means being baptized into Christ’s death, as represented symbolically by the
watery grave.  It means resurrecting with Him as represented by the coming up out of the water.  It means the old man of sin has
died, and the new man or creature is born again and has put on Christ and will walk in newness of life for the remainder of their
life,
(ROMANS 6:3-5) (3) “KNOW YE NOT, THAT SO MANY OF US AS WERE BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST WERE
BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH?  (4)  THEREFORE WE ARE BURIED WITH HIM BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH:  THAT
LIKE AS CHRIST WAS RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, EVEN SO WE SHOULD
WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE.  (5)  FOR IF WE HAVE BEEN PLANTED TOGETHER IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS
DEATH, WE SHALL BE ALSO IN THE LIKENESS OF HIS RESURRECTION.”
(COLOSSIANS 2:12)  “BURIED WITH
HIM IN BAPTISM, WHEREIN ALSO YE ARE RISEN WITH HIM THROUGH THE FAITH OF THE OPERATION OF GOD,
WHO HATH RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD.”
(GALATIANS 3:27)  “FOR AS MANY OF YOU AS HAVE BEEN
BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST HAVE PUT ON CHRIST.”
(II CORINTHIANS 5:17)  “THEREFORE IF ANY MAN BE IN
CHRIST, HE IS A NEW CREATURE:  OLD THINGS ARE PASSED AWAY; BEHOLD ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.”

We believe that infants and young children who are not of the age of accountability or are immature do not need to be baptized
because they already belong to God and the Kingdom of heaven,
(MATTHEW 19:14)  “BUT JESUS SAID, SUFFER (allow)
LITTLE CHILDREN, AND FORBID THEM NOT, TO COME UNTO ME:  FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.”
The Bible never mentions or advocates the baptizing of any infants or children.  There are many adults who can not make such a
commitment to surrender their all unto God.  This requires following Jesus Christ and His holy written Word unto obedience for
the remainder of their lives.  How much less could infants and immature young children make this type of   commitment?

(MATTHEW 18:5-6,10)  (5)   “ AND  WHOSO SHALL RECEIVE ONE SUCH LITTLE CHILD IN MY NAME RECEIVETH
ME.  (6)  BUT WHOSO SHALL OFFEND ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES WHICH BELIEVE IN ME, IT WERE BETTER
FOR HIM THAT A MILLSTONE WERE HANGED ABOUT HIS NECK, AND THAT HE WERE DROWNED IN THE
DEPTH OF THE SEA.  (10)  TAKE HEED THAT YE DESPISE NOT ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES; FOR I SAY UNTO
YOU, THAT IN HEAVEN THEIR ANGELS DO ALWAYS BEHOLD THE FACE OF MY FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN.”
(PSALM 127:3)  “LO, CHILDREN ARE AN HERITAGE OF THE LORD:  AND THE FRUIT OF THE WOMB IS HIS
REWARD.”

We believe that  no one  must interfere with an  individual’s decision to be baptized, after they have been taught God’s truth.
Baptism shows our love and commitment to serve God.  This is the choice that Jesus gives us,
(MATTHEW 10:36-37)  (36)
“AND A MAN’S FOES SHALL BE THEY OF HIS OWN HOUSEHOLD.  (37)  HE THAT LOVETH FATHER OR MOTHER
MORE THAN ME IS NOT WORTHY OF ME:  AND HE THAT LOVETH SON OR DAUGHTER MORE THAN ME IS NOT
WORTHY OF ME.”

We  believe  that  those  who  feel it is not necessary to be baptized (or not to be baptized by Biblical immersion), after being
taught, fulfill these following scriptures:
(PROVERBS 16:25)  “THERE IS A WAY THAT SEEMETH RIGHT UNTO A MAN,
BUT THE END THEREOF ARE THE WAYS OF DEATH.”
(PROVERBS 28: 26)   “HE THAT  TRUSTETH  IN  HIS  OWN
HEART IS A FOOL:  BUT WHOSO WALKETH WISELY, HE SHALL BE DELIVERED.”
(MARK 16:16)  “HE THAT
BELIEVETH AND IS BAPTIZED SHALL BE SAVED; BUT HE THAT BELIEVETH NOT SHALL BE DAMNED.”
